Starting out in a band called Pap and the Smears as a bass player 12 years ago while at Chico State, Lori has played in numerous bands ( Lonsome Cowboys, The Verves, Pokeralice, Booze, The Lovelies and The Smoke Jumpers) as well as deejaying at the college radio station and booking bands for local venues. She moved to Austin, Texas in 1993 to pursue her music and to find out if things were really bigger there! Lori was fixin' to start an all girl band that was two parts garage rock frenzy, a liberal dose of Texas-style country and a tasty dash of kiss my purty white ass. Thus the first incarnation of Poontwang was born. Though short-lived, this lineup was known for theme nights, wild stage antics and ribald lyrics. Realizing that things weren't actually bigger in Texas, Lori decided to drive a 20 foot truck, solo back to California. With a couple well placed ads, writing some new songs and switch from bass to guitar, Lori created a new, more rockin' Poontwang that will almost certainly propel her and the rest of the band toward rock goddess status. |
